Conversion relationship:
Intermediate arithmetic uses JavaScript Number. Results are rounded only for display. Extremely large or small values may lose precision.
Each tab loads the matching homepage converter. Dedicated pages: Length, Mass, Temperature, Volume, Area, Speed, Time, Digital storage.
02 / Length
Convert millimeters, centimeters, meters, kilometers, inches, feet, yards, and miles using the exact international inch of 25.4 millimeters. Meters are the internal base unit.
03 / Mass
These conversions concern mass. Everyday speech often says “weight,” but the units here are milligrams, grams, kilograms, metric tonnes, avoirdupois ounces, avoirdupois pounds, and the US short ton. Kilograms are the internal base. The pound is 0.45359237 kilograms exactly. Do not confuse a US short ton (2000 pounds) with a metric tonne (1000 kilograms). Ounces here are avoirdupois, not troy.
04 / Temperature
Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin do not share a zero point, so conversion is affine rather than a single multiplication. Values below absolute zero (0 K, −273.15 °C, −459.67 °F) are rejected. Kelvin cannot be negative.
05 / Volume
Metric liters and cubic units sit beside US customary cooking and liquid measures. 1 US gallon = 3.785411784 liters exactly. Cups, pints, quarts, fluid ounces, tablespoons, and teaspoons follow US customary fractions of that gallon. This tool does not mix imperial gallons or metric 250 mL cups.
06 / Area
Area uses squared length. 1 square foot is 0.3048² = 0.09290304 square meters, not 0.3048 square meters. 1 hectare = 10,000 m². 1 acre = 43,560 ft². 1 square mile = 640 acres. Square meters are the internal base.
07 / Speed
Convert meters per second, kilometers per hour, miles per hour, feet per second, and knots. 1 mph = 0.44704 m/s. 1 knot = 1852 meters per hour. This is a unit converter, not a live speed measurement tool, and it does not detect a visitor’s speed.
08 / Time
Convert milliseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, days, and weeks with fixed SI-style durations (1 day = 24 hours, 1 week = 7 days). Months and years are not offered because calendar months and years vary in length. This tool does not treat every month as 30 days or every year as 365 days.
09 / Digital storage
Decimal SI prefixes (kB, MB, GB, TB) use powers of 1000. Binary IEC prefixes (KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB) use powers of 1024. 1 byte = 8 bits. MB is not Mb, and GB is not GiB. Reported drive capacity often differs because of these conventions. Bytes are the internal base.
Decimal: 1 kB = 1000 B
Binary: 1 KiB = 1024 B

1 in = 25.4 mm; 1 ft = 12 in; 1 yd = 3 ft; 1 mi = 5280 ft
Metric prefixes scale by tens. Customary length units rest on the international inch. Convert by mapping both units to meters, then to the destination unit.
Worked example: 1 in × 2.54 = 2.54 cm.
Limitation: JavaScript Number cannot represent arbitrary precision; very large kilometer values may round.
1 lb = 0.45359237 kg; 1 oz = 1/16 lb; 1 US short ton = 2000 lb
Mass conversions multiply by a constant. Everyday “weight” language still uses these mass units here.
Worked example: 1 lb × 0.45359237 = 0.45359237 kg.
Limitation: This is not a force conversion and does not use local gravity.
°F = (°C × 9/5) + 32; K = °C + 273.15
Temperature scales have different zeros, so an offset is required. Accessible text: Fahrenheit equals Celsius times nine-fifths plus thirty-two.
Worked example: 0 °C → 32 °F.
Limitation: Values below absolute zero are physically invalid and are rejected.
1 US gal = 3.785411784 L; 1 US cup = 1/16 US gal
US customary kitchen units are fractions of the US gallon, not the imperial gallon and not a 250 mL metric cup.
Worked example: 1 US cup = 236.5882365 mL.
Limitation: Household measuring cups are approximate compared with laboratory glassware.
1 ft² = 0.3048² m² = 0.09290304 m²
Square a linear factor. Converting feet to meters and reusing 0.3048 for square feet is incorrect.
Worked example: 100 ft² × 0.09290304 = 9.290304 m².
Limitation: Land units such as acres are legal area units, not squares of a simple household length.
1 mph = 0.44704 m/s; 1 km/h = 1/3.6 m/s
Speed is length divided by time. Convert both parts, or use a combined factor to meters per second.
Worked example: 1 mph = 1.609344 km/h.
Limitation: This page does not measure motion; it only converts stated numbers.
1 min = 60 s; 1 h = 60 min; 1 d = 24 h; 1 wk = 7 d
These durations are fixed. Calendar months and years are not.
Worked example: 90 min = 1.5 h.
Limitation: Leap seconds and civil time-of-day rules are outside this converter.
1 kB = 1000 B; 1 KiB = 1024 B; 1 B = 8 bit
SI prefixes are decimal. IEC prefixes are binary. Mixing them is a common source of “missing” gigabytes on a drive label.
Worked example: 1 GB = 10⁹ B; 1 GiB = 2³⁰ B.
Limitation: File-system overhead is not part of a unit conversion.
